There's no lying that most elite martial artists start training at a young age. Kids have the advantage of being supple, risk adverse and have the ability to pick up pointers with ease. But if you’re worried you’re too old to start martial arts, don’t be. Here at Serenity Jiu Jitsu, North Shields we cater to your needs. We have classes for 5-7 years old, 8-13 years old and classes for adults (our current oldest members are in their sixties AND only started the sport in 2018).
Benefits
As an adult it may take you little longer to grasp the movements, more so than the children, but it’s well worth it in the long run. You’ll increase your flexibility and build your speed and flexibility. You’ll gain confidence, be leaner and have increased your physical ability. You’ll also find that you gain greater mental clarity and focus in life as well as being able to hold your own in an unpleasant situation.
Challenges
You’ll use muscles that you didn’t even know existed, even if you train regularly in other disciplines, so you'll like experience muscle soreness. You need to be patient. Stick with BJJ for at least three months. In this time movements will start to click and you'll notice how well you've improved since your first Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class.
There are many martial arts to choose from, so the first thing to consider is, what are you looking to get out of it? Self defence? A leaner physique? Something to commit to long-term? BJJ at Serenity Jiu Jitsu in North Tyneside is perfect for you.
Motive?
